Twice a year, eccentric wealthy recluse Elwood Addington Thrush engages in a ritual purge of the flotsam and jetsam of his worldly possessions. He lives alone it seems, in the company of an elderly pair of servants who have been with him since before a tragic event on Christmas Eve forty years earlier. On the day of one of these purges, Thrush receives a visitor; a daughter whom he hasn’t seen since that tragic night. Another daughter, the subject of the tragedy and long deceased, has some pointed words for her father regarding her sister’s visit.
